Do I Need One or Two HTEM4 MoCA Adapters?

Do I Need One or Two HTEM4 MoCA Adapters?

MoCA Adapters work by creating a point-to-point Ethernet-over-coax connection. This means that you need a MoCA adapter at both ends of the connection, unless your router already has MoCA built in.

When You Need Two Adapters:

  • Your router does NOT have built-in MoCA. (Most routers don’t.)

  • You’re creating a wired connection between rooms via coax.

  • You’re using the adapters to backhaul a mesh WiFi system.

When One Adapter is Enough:

  • Your router has built-in MoCA and is connected to a live coax outlet.

  • You only need to connect one remote device via coax.

How to Check if Your Router Has MoCA:

  • Look for the word "MoCA" printed near the coaxial port.

  • Check your router’s manual or manufacturer's website for specs.

  • Call your ISP or check your router model online.

If you're unsure, the safest option is to order a 2-pack of HTEM4 adapters.
