HTEM5 Troubleshooting Checklist

HTEM5 Troubleshooting Checklist

When troubleshooting your MoCA Adapters and MoCA Network, we recommend the following steps to help you either pin-point, or narrow down the cause of your issues:

  1. Check the physical connections
  2. Reboot the HTEM5
  3. Verify the LEDs
  4. Factory Reset

STEP 1:  Check the HTEM5 Adapter’s Physical Connections

  1. First, check all of the power cords on your HTEM5 Adapters – make sure that each Adapter is connected at the Power port of the Adapter and to your power outlet.
  2. Check all of the coax cables on your HTEM5 Adapters to make sure they are connected (tightened to be finger-tight only) to the Coax port on your HTEM5 Adapters to the Coax outlets.
  3. Check all of the Ethernet cables on your HTEM5 Adapters to make sure they are connected to the Ethernet port and check your other connected network devices to ensure the Ethernet cable is connected to the Ethernet port on each device (such as your gaming consoles, smart TV’s, computers, etc.).

Step 2:  Reboot the HTEM5 Adapter

  1. Unplug the HTEM5 Adapter from the power outlet and wait a few seconds.
  2. Plug the HTEM5 Adapter back into the power outlet.
  3. Within 3 minutes, check that the Power and MoCA LEDs on your HTEM5 Adapters are solid GREEN (to indicate that your HTEM5 is receiving power and that a MoCA connection has been established between HTEM5 Adapters.).

NotesNOTE:The MoCA connection may take up to 10 minutes to establish.

Step 3:  Verify LEDs on the HTEM5 Adapter

When properly setup, your HTEM5 Coax to Ethernet MoCA Adapters should display the Power LED as solid GREEN, and the MoCA LED should display as solid GREEN or BLUE.  If the MoCA LED is OFF, then your HTEM5 Coax to Ethernet Adapter is not seeing a connection to your second MoCA Adapter.  Remember, you need at least two MoCA Adapters to create a MoCA network (this can include a MoCA-capable Modem/Router).

Step 4:  Factory Reset the HTEM5 Adapter

If you have tried all of the above steps and your HTEM5 Adapter is still not working, please try performing a Factory Reset.

NotesPLEASE NOTE:  Factory resetting your HTEM5 Coax to Ethernet Adapter will restore the HTEM5 Adapter back to its original factory default settings and any settings that you have modified will be lost and cannot be recovered.

Factory Reset the HTEM5 Adapter:

To RESTORE the HTEM5 configuration back to Factory Default Settings, locate the RESET button on the rear panel of the HTEM5 Adapter.

  1. Insert the end of a paper clip or other small object with a narrow tip into the RESET opening on the back of your HTEM5 Adapter.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button for 10 to 15 seconds or more to reset the HTEM5 back to its factory default settings.
